I'm thankful for being in the band for four years, which led me to being the UW Marching Band in college. I'll always have fond memories of performing in concerts while wearing tuxes and performing in the end-of-year variety show in May (I wish I could remember its name). I wish we had a marching band and a larger pep band. I enjoyed those experiences at UW, and I know I would have enjoyed them at Memorial. I also wish we had individual rehearsal spaces.

The arts are important for helping to create well-rounded individuals. To make sure that we can attract students to the arts, Memorial needs a new facility and more resources. Based on Memorial's location, the new facility also can be a fixture of the community, as we see at other schools (e.g. Verona). Also, instruments can be expensive to purchase and rent, and we must make sure that all students who want to be in band or orchestra have an opportunity to do so.
